What a week for EDM, following up the massive EDC Las Vegas! Wolfgang Gartner “Flexxes” his musical powers! Deniz Koyu drops some massive electro house with “Bong”. JOOP is more than “Just One Night” with a great trance hit.
At #1 this week we bring you LA DJ Wolfgang Gartner, who flexes his muscle with a huge electro single in “Flexx”. Following up a massive set at EDC Las Vegas, Gartner bring us his classic hard hitting style that is quickly climbing up the charts.
The instrumental itself is full of electronic noises and synths. He gets in his patented helicopter breakdowns that are perfectly blended in with a Jamaican vocalist on the loop. It is quick paced in nature and perfect for any club or festival.
Watch out for Gartner in 2012, not only on his productions but also on his touring schedule. The guy simply knows what the crowds want, if EDC Las Vegas was any evidence. We wouldn’t be shocked if he cracks the the Top #20 on DJ Mag.

Remember big hits from the fall of 2012, such as as “Hertz” and “Tung”. EDM Charts certainly does. Deniz Koyu is in the #2 spot this week with his newest electro single “Bong”. It is some big room noise, built largely on up and down builds.
We’re not precisely sure how he got the title on this one, but regardless of what it is called it is a banger. If you’re looking for high energy on a track, this one certainly has it. No vocals are needed at all as the the fine tuned synths speak for themselves.
Koyu is having a massive past 12 months. He keeps releasing one hit after another. In addition, he has been showing up on some collaborations and remixes. Keep an eye out as this MTV #20 EDM newcomer is making some serious noise.
Representing the USA/Bay Area on this week’s Classic Collaboration is Kasakde. “Raining” is one of his many classic tracks; however we had to choose just one.
This song was one of the biggest singles of his “Dance.Love” album. It was on constant airplay two summers ago. The vocals are genius and the literal rain in the intro make it even better.
If there’s one thing for certain, it is that Kaskade does his own thing, and does it well. He is one of the artists that has really helped but EDM on the scene in the US.
At #3 this week is upcoming Dutch DJ/Producer JOOP with his single “Just One Night”. It is a great example of current Dutch trance. Large big room sounds are combined together with hints of electro house. JOOP may be fairly new to the scene, but this track is very polished.
Tiffany Johnston really stands out on vocals, even with all the filters and alterations to her vocals. The chopping up on the track really make it stick out; in a good way. It is something different to the trance genre; with it being decently similar to Gareth Emery’s “The Saga”.
This track has already garnered plenty of radio play from big artists and labels. This is another artist to keep on your radar as his portfolio expands. At least this Dutch is winning, unlike their soccer team in the UEFA Cup!
Armin, the #1 DJ in the world cracks #4 this week, with the Finish duo, Maison & Dragen on the remix. If you thought the original was good, this remix is even better, and more intense.
Although this style of music is somewhat uncommon for Armin, he sure did a great job transitioning to it. It reminds us a bit of Tiesto’s transition from trance to electro house.
Armin absolutely destroyed EDC Las Vegas with his ASOT stage and his live performances. It will be interesting to see where AvB goes with his music. Does he pull a Tiesto? Or does he stick to his trance roots? There is no doubt whatever route he goes, it will be perfection.
Colharbour Recording takes over the final position on this week’s chart at #5. Mr. Pit and Ben Gold draw up a great one in “River of Hearts”. This is true Coldharbour music: It is deep, dark and constantly building.
Mr. Pit is constantly featured on Markus Schulz sets, for a good reason, as he can pull off some real magic on the decks. It has elements some huge synths, fast BPM, and essential trance feel.
Coldharbour is a top #10 label for a reason. There is an insane amount of talent under this label. Mr. Pit has been doing his thing for a few years now. There is no doubt this isn’t the last time we will be hearing from him.
