2. JACK BEATS, JESS MILLS “SOMEBODY TO LOVE” [ORIGINAL MIX] (OWSLA) Release Date: 2012-12-9edmcharts_love_jackbeats

Rating: ★★★★

Genre: Electro House

Origin: UK

Description: The DJ duo of Jack Beats make their first appearance on the top #5 chart this week. Released under OWSLA, the track stays true to the electro house genre. It features UK vocalist Jess Mills on vocals, who does a brilliant job bringing out the “love” on the track. The track is a hybrid; it has more of a progressive house feel during the chorus with the vocals, but transitions into some sick electro house beats throughout the rest of the instrumental.

CLASSIC COLLABORATION: ZEDD “DOVREGUBBEN” [ORIGINAL MIX] (DIM MAK RECORDS) Release Date: 2011-5-31edmcharts_dovregubben_zedd

Rating: ★★★★★

Genre: Electro House

Origin: Germany

Description: As Zedd continues his path towards stardom, let’s not forget how it all got started. His first huge single was “Dovregubben”. The track is ingenious. First off it samples Edvard Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King” for all of you classic music lovers out there. It then transitions into some hard electro house, which is important to note as it one of first big electro house hits. This is a great track that should not be forgotten from Zedd.

3. BASTO “STORMCHASER” [ORIGINAL MIX] (SPINNIN RECORDS) Release Date: 2012-12-7edmcharts_storm_basto

Rating: ★★★

Genre: Progressive House

Origin: Belgium

Description: Belgian all-start Basto does it again with another progressive house banger in “Stormchaser”. He’s recently been receiving a lot of radio play with his previous single “I Rave You” and this track is a great follow up. It’s somewhat of a quirky track, that bounces up and down. There are plenty of hardened synths, that almost make it somewhat electro house in styling.

4. SCUBA “HARDBODY” [ORIGINAL MIX] (HOTFLUSH RECORDINGS) Release Date: 2012-12-10edmcharts_hardbody_scuba

Rating: ★★★

Genre: Deep House

Origin: UK

Description: UK deep house DJ Scuba make the top #5 this week with “Hardbody”. The track has a great club/industrial feel with a hint of funk/soul to it. It is fairly upbeat for being classified as deep house, yet the flow of it is true to the genre. The sexy female vocal loop is a great addition of character to the track.
