WEEKLY TOP ELECTRONIC CHARTS: OCTOBER 2014, VOL. 131

28 Oct

Happy Halloween from EDM Charts! It’s always a great time to bust out the all-time classic Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”.  This week is loaded with a mix of funk as well as some deeper vibes. City Soul Project strikes twice, both on stellar remixes. Arnold Jarvis and Danism hit the #1 spot with one of the best deep house productions of 2014.

1. Arnold Jarvis, Danism – Reciprocated Love (City Soul Project Remix) (Noir Music)

Danism makes their debut on Noir Music with the emotional Reciprocated Love featuring the vocals of legend Arnold Jarvis. You have to love the stringled and super smooth song from first listen. This is deep house like it sounded back in the day and in general just a timeless effort by the Cambridge based guys. City Soul Project delivers the remix which is spot on quality with a more clubby edge.

2. Meramek – Stepping Stones (Original Mix) (Anjunadeep)

Building on the brilliant reception to his debut “Feeling EP” late last year and his fiery remixes of Lancelot and Prides, Meramek aka Oliver Smith dials up the bass on this classy new EP.

Rounding off an exciting EP is “Stepping Stones”, which is packed with infectious melodies, rolling percussion and another club friendly groove. Accomplished production and musicality shine through in the breakdown yet again, showcasing Meramek’s talent for bringing beauty to the dancefloor.

3. Nora En Pure – True (Mark Lower Remix) (Enormous Tunes)

Rating: ★★★

Description: Nora En Pure’s original track TRUE became the deep house hymn of this year’s summer. It still gets heavy support in various radios stations and regular spins in DJ sets from some of the biggest global players. This version is by French mastermind Mark Lower. His signature nu disco sound captivates listeners every time and so it comes as no surprise that he also nailed this remix with adding a funky bass line to his remix and arranging it in a clubby and very danceable way.

4. Jero Nougues – Americans (City Soul Project’s 909 Workout) (Savoir Faire Musique)

Rating: ★★★

Genre: House

Origin: Argentina

Description: Jero Nougues makes his solo debut for Savoir Faire Musique with this spoken vocal house groove. On remix duties, City Soul Project jack things up even more with an acid tinged 909 workout.

Rating: ★★★

Genre: Tech House
