WEEKLY TOP ELECTRONIC CHARTS: NOVEMBER 2014, VOL. 133

10 Nov

November has been a month filled with steady success specifically in the deep house and tech house arenas. This week we see all new names to the charts, spread out literally across the globe. Juliet Sikora and Chemical Surf top the charts with a club themed anthem. Dosem drops some techno knowledge off his new album City Cuts.

1. Juliet Sikora, Chemical Surf – What’s That (Original Mix) (Kitball)

Since releasing their Walking Back EP on Kittball, Brazilian duo Chemical Surf have demonstrated their indisputable work ethic in the studio with appearances on the likes of Miami Underground Records, Sprinkler, Lust Be and Erase Records. Collaborating with them is Juliet Sikora, Kittball co-founder and the heart and soul of the label. “Whats That” continues the theme of commanding low-ends, with a rumbling bass hook taking centre stage. This time the vocals have been left intact adding a sing along factor to a dancefloor commanding piece of four-to-the-flour house.

2. Dosem – Loft Dancers (Original Mix) (Suara)

City Cuts still boasts all the unique production values of Dosem’s previous acclaimed albums (Parallel in 2011 and Origin 2013) but this time he progresses by showing a different side to his musical prowess, delivering what feels like his most accomplished long-player to date. All in all, City Cuts is a very confident and imaginative long-player. While moving from track to track, nothing ever sounds out of place and is all tied together with an incredibly strong sense of melody. Developed like a well-crafted DJ set, this album is not only full of intrigue and excitement but also makes sense as a listen, highlighting Dosem’s supreme talent, depth and versatility as a DJ/producer.

3. Christian Nielsen – Do You Mind (Original Mix) (Play It Down)

Rating: ★★★

Genre: Tech House

Origin: Denmark

Description: “I played these vocals in my studio and when my girlfriend heard them she was hooked. I’ve heard her singing and grooving to them on her own for the past six months, and having it stick like that makes this track really special for me. In my world, the vibe and smooth vocals that “Do You Mind” has is really what it’s all about.” – Christian Nielsen For Play It Down’s 50th release, they felt it was right to give it over to their hit-maker & future globetrotter Christian Nielsen.
