EDM Charts welcomes Brazilian duo Drunky Daniels for an interview this Turkey Day! With their recent release “Fabulous” on Toolroom Records creating waves on the charts, we sat down with them to see what they’ve been up to as well as discover their influences and upcoming projects!
Grazi & Vini, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule! Tell us where you’re from and how you met?
Hey! No problem, it’s a pleasure. We both are from southern Brazil. We lived in the same city for a while until I (Grazi) have moved to Europe. During this time Vini went to Europe for a Mini Tour and met me for a studio session. From this we started to think about making a project together but it took almost two years until we actually formed a duo. We have been back in Brazil for 3 years now and we are now based in Curitiba (Paraná/South Brazil) producing and playing as Drunky Daniels.
What led you to specifically getting involved with the house, tech house and deep house genres?
Actually we both have our own influences. Since 10 years ago when we started playing. Vini came with the old house music influence and I contributed with techno and tech house that I used to listen and play. In the middle of that we decided to create something that could be a little freaky but still danceable.
What is it like working with Toolroom as a label?
Wow, this one is pretty easy. Toolroom is a big label that we always had followed their great stuff. Looking today and thinking about how we wished to be releasing there one day with the Toolroom artists is actually pretty awesome. We are definitely very happy.
Your most recent track, “Fabulous” will be featured on EDM Charts, Vol. 145 and has got great exposure on Beatport and other radio shows/podcasts. Describe the track and how it all came together?
We were in touch with the Toolroom manager since we released our other track called “Reckless”. We made “Fabulous” exclusive for them. Being supported by them and all the other great producers who are charting Fabulous on Beatport and radio shows or even playing on their sets is just amazing. Also we are grateful for being featured on EDM Charts, Vol 145 because we want to show our music to those who really love music.
What are some upcoming productions/projects you are working on?
We are working pretty hard in the studio because we will release on Material and Materialism with Mihalis Safras and it will come out as a vinyl, and we are also working in some new tunes for The Deepshakerz label Safe Music. We are always in movement and making cool tunes.
Are there any artists/vocalists that you have been dying to work with?
Of course, there are many artists and vocalists who we would be delighted to work with. If you get tuned in our next releases you will see some of them.
Has Mark Knight been a big influence for you as a member of the Toolroom team? Who else has been a big influence for your development?
For sure Mark Knight was a big influence for us. We love his music and the way that he works. Also we like the house music that Todd Terry does. Doorly is a great producer as well. We love the UK house music, such as Leftwing and Kody from Lost Records. We had the opportunity to be released on an EP there.
What is your hottest track at the moment?
We are big fans of our track called “Blaze it Up” that will be released soon on Materialism. We can say that it is working very well on the dancefloor.
Where can fans discover more about you and get your music?
