Dan and Dan, AKA Danism, the deep house duo from Cambridge caught up with EDM Charts this past week! Their name has become synonymous for high quality and innovative sound. Find out even more about their recent singles Fly Away and Reciprocated Love!

Dan & Dan, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule! Tell us where you’re from and how you met?

We met in Cambridge. Both of us grew up here but Dan Gresham was born in Manchester and spent some early years there.

What led you to specifically getting involved with the house, tech house and deep house genres?

I had been making house music with Conan under the name Liquid People from the late 90’s. Dan Gresham was interested in doing some Dance music other than his main Nu:tone Project. We chatted over a pint and decided to get together and make some music. We’ve done working together as Danism for quite a while now.

What is it like working with Noir Music as a label?

We fell in love with the label after hearing the Solomun’s mix on ‘Around’ which Noir produced with Haze a few years ago. We knew then we had to get involved. What Noir did with Reciprocated Love was amazing and to get  such a classy and respected vocalist like Arnold Jarvis on such a contempary label as Noir Music was a real touch.

Your most recent track, “Fly Away” will be featured on EDM Charts, Vol. 140 and has got great exposure on Beatport and radio shows/podcasts. Describe the track and how it all came together and what it’s like working with Arnold Jarvis (who we’ve previously interviewed!)?

The term legend is one used around a bit too much for our liking but in this case you can’t get away from it. Arnold is as good as gets for the real house heads out there and to have had such a great response to first record together was amazing. We will be defiantly working together more in 2015. ‘Fly Away’ was essentially put together in a day. Arnold sent the vocals over in the morning, we took it into the studio in the afternoon and the label loved it. They didn’t want any changes; sometimes it goes down like that.

What are some upcoming productions/projects you are working on?

The next single on Noir Music is with Symbol. Noir is freaking out about this one so we will keep you posted on this joint.

Are there any artists/vocalists that you have been dying to work with?

We waited 3 years to work with Arnold Jarvis so that is testament to how much we wanted to work with him. Symbol is of the hook as well. We have also loved working with Haze and Rae recently so I guess we are spoilt at the moment.

What is your set up for producing music, such as Ableton, live instruments, etc…

We use mostly use Cubase and Reason. At the end of the day it’s the Indian not the bow and arrows.

What is your hottest track at the moment?

Native Riddim – Coeo : Toy Tronics

What is your favorite venue and/or concert you’ve performed at and why?

This question is too hard to answer. There’s just been so many great nights over the years.

Where can fans discover more about you and get your music?
