French producer and label owner Claude Monnet, catches up with us to talk about his most recent hit “I Would Fall” and other happenings in his busy life. Read up on what it is like to be Claude Monnet!

Claude, thanks for taking time out of your schedule to chat with EDM Charts! Tell us where you guys are from, how you got into music?

I’m from and live in Paris (France). I have owned 3 labels since 1995 (SSOH, ANALOG, and KISS ME HARDY). I’m also a DJ. I did my first DJ set at 16 year old in the middle of 80’s.

What is the EDM scene like in France and how has it evolved recently?

Like everywhere in the rest of the world, in France we also have several different electronic music scenes. From pop dance (David Guetta, Bob Sinclar, Daft Punk etc…), to underground techno and deep house (Laurent Garnier, Agoria , Dj Deep, Apollonia, etc…) passing by other styles such as Kavinski, Brodinski, Gesaffelstein, Wookid etc…These scenes are constantly evolving. We are quite fortunate to have this great diversity of amazing producers.

What is it like working with Safe Music as a label?

The Deepshakerz are long time friends and I have been releasing one of their first tracks on my label, so when they asked me if they could release on of my track on their own label (SAFE), I obviously answered a positive way.

“I Would Fall” [Sebb Aston Remix] will be featured on EDM Charts, Vol.142. Describe the track and how it all came together, as well as working with Sebb Aston.

Actually it is the Deepshakerz who directly asked to Sebb Aston and Horatio to do remixes for the Part 2. I liked the idea, and I’m really happy by the result; both are good.

What are some upcoming productions/projects you are working on?

I just finished a remix for Justin Harris “I Time Like Now” coming on SOMETHING DIFFERENT label, and I’m working on two different projects, the first with my friend CITIZEN KAIN is on a more techno route, and the second which is more personal is on a deep and house way.

What is your favorite venue you’ve performed at and why?

A good venue is a venue with a good sound system, a good light system and a good audience. There are so many clubs like this in the world that I can’t mention just one.

What is your set up for producing music, such as Ableton, live instruments, etc…?

I work with a Mac Pro, Logic X and a lot of external synths (Juno 106, Juno 60, SH 101, JD 900, JV 2080, MKS80, MKS70 etc….) and gears (compressors, reverbs, delay, etc…) all linked to my sound card through a BENTAM patch. I like producing in a old school way.

What is your hottest track at the moment?

Citizen Kain & Claude Monnet : Acid Rhyme. Out now on Traxsource.

A fun question here: What is your favorite French delicacy and why?

My little weakness is desserts. I love the French pastry and it’s the thing I miss the most when I am abroad.

Where can fans discover more about you and get your music?

They can get my music on all digital store such as Traxsource, Beatport, Juno etc…….
